Transition

Each module in the Professional Development Alternatives for Exceptional Student Educators Program has been developed to provide the user with the most current information available. The activities and assignments have been designed with the adult learner in mind and are based on the following Florida's Exceptional Student Education Competencies, established July, 2002


Knowledge of the transition process skills

  • Identify activities relevant to the four stages of career development (i.e., awareness, exploration, preparation, and placement).
  • Identify the essential domains of transition planning (e.g., personal/social, general community functioning, and leisure/recreational) for students with disabilities.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of transition planning using student and family preferences to develop desired postschool outcomes.
  • Identify resources and strategies to assist in students functioning effectively in a variety of environments to which they will be transitioning.
